Through Him all things were made; without Him nothing was made that has been made. — John 1:3
When a person paints a picture of the sky and mountains it is not necessarily “religious”, however as human beings, having the very blueprints of our creator, we will imitate the God of all creation by expressing ourselves through the arts. Music is an art. It is unique in the sense that it touches our emotions in a way that no other art form can. As with fire, it can be used for lighting and warmth or for utter destruction. In America today we have seen both.
At The Omega Institute we believe that the uniqueness of the art form is determined by the artist and that the palette can be as varied as the sea-life of the oceans. We believe that music was created ultimately to praise the Lord of all creation so we do not limit ourselves in what that may look like in its style form. Therefore we must ask ourselves what is it that makes music Christian or non-Christian? It is only in the lyric content, not in the style, so can an instrumental song be considered Christian?
We at Omega believe it’s the life of the artist that worships God through what he does and it is not distinguished any differently than the man who paints the stars in the heavens or the woman who dances in the ballet. This is what makes the music ministry at Omega unique because the art form we use is not determined by the style in vogue but we explore all styles, musically and lyrically to glorify our Lord.
